Total cost of a Private Pilot certificate consists of aircraft rental, the instructor's flight time,
ground instruction, study materials, a medical certificate, and test fees.
The standard rate for the Wells Cessna Skyhawk SP is currently $125.00 per hour. The instructor's rate is
$40.00 per hour for dual time (in the air), and $40.00 per hour for ground instruction.

The above costs are minimum required to complete a Private Pilot Certificate. The national average
flight experience required for the exam is 55 hours of flight time. The estimated average cost for
the certificate is usually between $8,500.00 and $9,200.00.
If learning to fly in the Cirrus SR-20, add $2,800 for the increased cost of aircraft rental to the base price.
